How it works
One mechanism, many uses
Botulinum toxin stops a nerve releasing acetylcholine at the injection site, so the targeted muscle relaxes or the sweat glands quieten for several months. Small doses near the surface soften lines, larger doses in a muscle reduce its bulk, and careful placement can rebalance opposing muscles to lift the brows or mouth corners.
