The DAO muscle runs from the jawline to the corner of the mouth. When it is strong, it pulls the corners down and deepens marionette lines, giving a sad or tired look. Relaxing it lets the opposing elevator muscles lift the corners slightly. Lines caused by volume loss or sagging respond better to filler or lifting.
