Quick answer · What is Gummy Smile Botox?

Gummy smile Botox is a non-surgical injection that reduces excessive gum show when smiling. Very small doses of botulinum toxin are placed in the upper-lip elevator muscles beside the nose, so the lip rises slightly less. Treatment takes about 10 minutes with no downtime. The effect usually starts in 3–5 days, settles by 7–14 days and typically lasts 3–4 months.

How it works

A slightly lower lip lift, not a different smile

A gummy smile is often caused by strong elevator muscles, such as the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi, that pull the upper lip high. Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the nerve signal to these muscles, so the lip lifts a few millimetres less. Doses are kept small to preserve a natural, full smile.

  1. Smile assessment

Your doctor watches you smile, checks lip length and gum show, and confirms the cause is muscular rather than dental or skeletal.

  2. Micro-injections

One or two tiny injections are placed on each side near the base of the nose, with a very fine needle and no numbing usually needed.

  3. Gradual softening

The lip begins to relax in 3–5 days. A check at about two weeks lets your doctor fine-tune any asymmetry.

FAQ

Gummy Smile Botox questions we hear every day

Does gummy smile Botox hurt?

Most patients feel only a quick pinch, as just a few tiny injections are needed with a very fine needle. Ice can be used beforehand if you are sensitive.

Will my smile look unnatural?

The aim is to lower the lip lift slightly, not to stop you smiling. Doses are kept small, and a two-week check lets your doctor adjust the balance if needed.

When will I see results?

The effect usually begins within 3–5 days and settles by about one to two weeks. Results typically last three to four months.

Can I combine it with a lip flip?

Yes. Some patients pair it with a lip flip to show a little more upper lip, and your doctor will plan the doses together so the mouth still moves naturally.

Is there downtime?

No. Small pinpoint marks fade within an hour or so. Avoid rubbing the area, saunas and intense exercise for the rest of the day.

How much does gummy smile Botox cost in Myeongdong?

Price for gummy smile Botox depends on the dose needed. The same price list applies to every nationality and is given to you in writing before treatment. See our filler and botox price list.
